Where'd my Blogroll Go & The Company Men

It seems that not only I take a long hiatus from blogging-- but nearly everyone on my blogroll has taken some time off!  I went to try and catch up, only to find, there isn' much catching up to do!

Life moves at breakneck speed.  I really, hugely, regret not getting here more often to record the mundane and everyday.  I'd give anything to get a better glimpse into the life of our family, of, oh, say about a year ago!  When hubby was unemployed and it looked as if the world were going to fall apart.  Or even the few months after Peach was born...or any of the months since hubby started working again last fall-- it is hard to remember the little details of life.

We rented a movie from Redbox the other night-- The Company Men.  After last year, it was something that really made my husband curious.  It really hit close to home-- my husband's experience closer to that of Ben Affleck's character (minus the million dollar home and Porche!) but it was a gentle reminder of how lucky we are.  Something that we are acutely aware of, nevertheless, being reminded always helps put an ordinary day in perspective.  Overall, I think it was a great portrait of a practice that, in this economy, is becoming more and more common.  Out with the nearly retired- in with the recent college graduates.  This only makes me wonder:  is this a new trend that will continue and become a standard?  Will we have to be prepared to "retire" earlier?
