A Perfect Day

Life goes by quickly.  We all know it.  But today, it was a perfect, slow-down, enjoy the moment kind of day.  We were busy, but busy having fun by putting our "to-do" list on hold.  It was my husband's idea over a leisurely breakfast of his very famous (around here, anyways!) and delicious pancakes.  How about we go pick some strawberries?  The kids were super eager-- especially since this has been in the past year or two, something done without him.  Stink was pretty excited and once there, Peach was not so much picking, as she was eating the warm and sweet berries.  We picked about 4 pounds in all-- not a bad haul for about an hour's worth of "work".

After this, we promised Stink a before lunch ice cream.  He couldn't believe his luck!  Peach and Stink had the appropriate amount of chocolate around their mouths before we headed off to pick up some sweet corn for dinner.  After a quick stop at the grocery store, we packed up a picnic and dressed the kids in swimsuits and headed to the community water park.  Stink and Peach had a fantastic time swimming!  I have to be really careful with Peach-- she thinks she can swim and frequently went underwater, but it didn't phase her one bit!  I think I have a water bug on my hands!  Stink is doing so well learning how to swim.  He can tread water, forward crawl (a little) and float on his back.

Our day ended with playing in the yard and grilling out a steak dinner (oh, yea.  I am eating steak this pregnancy!  First time in 25 years!)  Stink can really put away quite a bit of food for a kid his age.  He ate a whole 8 oz steak today, two ears of corn, and some potatoes.  Not to mention the berry & yogurt dessert he ate about 30 minutes later.  I am terrified to what my grocery bill will look like when he is 12!!

Today was a perfect day and it ended with all of us cuddled on the couch with books, my husband falling asleep while reading Nate the Great to Stink!  We called it a "family fun day" and Stink loved it, and went to bed saying that it was the best day ever!  It truly was an amazing and fun day.
